OVERVIEW
“Do Thi Nuoc Man”- is nowadays located in Phuoc Quang Commune, Tuy Phuoc District, Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam is confirmed to be the place where Quoc Ngu – Vietnamese scripts in Latin letters used today – originated from.
From the Annamese script, also known as the Han-Nom script, to form and develop the modern Vietnamese script according to the Latin alphabet, it has been over three centuries.
Join us to learn the story of the history of Catholic evangelization in Vietnam by Jesuit missionaries from the West – who made great contributions to creating today’s Vietnamese script.
Binh Dinh is one of the three first Catholic lands in Vietnam.

Depart to Tuy Phuoc for sightseeing: Nuoc Man historical relics – The place where Quoc Ngu script originated – Vietnamese language today.
Visiting the memorial in the form of an iconic banyan tree made of concrete, with 16 branches representing 16 Dioceses of Dang Trong (the South region of Vietnam)
This is the location where the early priests Francesco De Pina (Portuguese), Priest Cristoforo Borri (Italian), Father Buzomi (French) stayed to study Vietnamese with the locals, transliterating Han-Nom based-script into Latin-based script, building a Vietnamese-Bo La dictionary which created a premise for the Jesuit missionary Alexandre de Rhodes et al to complete and develop the Vietnamese script.
Next visit Chua Ba-Cang Thi Nuoc Man (Ba Temple – Ancient Nuoc Man Port). This is a religious work to worship Thien Hau Thanh Mau, built by the Chinese who immigrated to Nuoc Man Port in the 17th century.
Visit Go Thi Church, or Vinh Thanh Church both of which are the oldest churches regarded as the first Catholic foundation in Vietnam.
Noon: Having lunch at a local restaurant.
Afternoon: visit Long Song Minor Seminary – A place for priest training and religious activities. It was also in here that one of the first three printing workshops of Quoc Ngu script in Vietnam was born to print bibles, journals, publications, and so on in the form of national language script, contributing to the existence and development of the national language script.
Visiting the former national language printing workshop, now being a gallery of publications and preservation of traces during the formation and development process of Vietnamese script.
* Discovering the European Gothic architecture of Long Song Minor Seminary. Visitors to Long Song Minor Seminary feel as if they were in the West where this majestic architecture of cathedrals, City Halls are often found.
Continuing the sightseeing Long Phuoc Pagoda, the first-class martial arts temple of Binh Dinh in particular and Vietnam in general, is the place where 18-type military weapons of the traditional Binh Dinh martial arts with culmination being Tay Son martial arts are preserved, taught, and performed.
Enjoy the unique traditional martial art show by Long Phuoc Pagoda Sect, Binh Dinh. Its former abbot Venerable Thich Thanh Hoa is the international grand master of the traditional martial arts.
Experience learning some martial arts for self-defense in the costumes of Long Phuoc Martial Arts Sect, or Traditional Binh Dinh Martial Arts.
